Harry's Donates More Than $120,000, 77,000 lbs of Food to Charities

 

Portland-Based Manufacturer Fought Cystic Fibrosis, Hunger in 2006

 

PORTLAND, ORE. (February 14, 2007) – Harry’s Fresh Foods (Harry’s), manufacturer of always fresh, ready-to-eat soups, entrees, sides and desserts, announces its total contributions made to non-profit organizations in 2006.  In all, Harry’s donated 77,000 pounds of soups, entrees, desserts and vegetables to more than 17 organizations.  Most significantly, in its ongoing commitment to prevent hunger, Harry’s embarked on a unique partnership this past fall with Albertsons, Fred Meyer and various local suppliers to create a limited edition ‘Stone Soup.’ A portion of sales proceeds, $24,000, will be donated to Oregon Food Bank. The company’s support of additional regional, national and international charities resulted in a total contribution of more than $120,000 in 2006. 

 

“Harry’s first annual Stone Soup program demonstrated the generous spirit of the region’s producers, retailers and consumers,” said Rod “Harry” Harris, owner and founder of Harry’s Fresh Foods.  “Together, with Oregon Food Bank, Fred Meyer, Albertsons and local suppliers, we made a difference in the fight against hunger.  We are fortunate to be in a position to be able to donate time, food and monetary support to such wonderfully appreciative organizations.”
